The hot french baker she hated now knows her secret
Jemma slid into Adrian's car with a sigh.
"I have bad news, actually weird news"
Adrian glanced over.
"...Grace and Jeremiah got married."
Silence.
"...I'm sorry? were they secretly married or something?"
"They found one of those civil marriage offices inside the mall."
"...And?"
"They thought it'd be interesting. they think they for each other and they should go on random tour like those movies and..."
Adrian blinked.
"They actually signed the papers and got 200$ wedding rings."
"Shit."
"They're legally married."
"Should have used my card to buy them better rings."
Jemma impulsively hit him over that answer and he started laughing.
For the first time since Jemma had met him, she saw him laughing loud.
Jemma stared.
"...You make jokes?"
"I wasn't aware that surprised people."
"It does."
She folded her arms dramatically.
"They're at Airport Beach now."
"Celebrating?"
"No." Jemma sighed. "Planning their honeymoon."
Adrian looked out the windshield.
"I envy them."
She turned.
"What?"
"They can make reckless decisions without wondering what their family name will think."
Jemma smiled.
"Well..."
She pointed toward the road.
"We could drive to Airport Beach too and get randomly married and go Vegas if you are brave enough to ignore your job."
Without a word...Adrian turned the steering wheel.
The car made a U-turn.
Jemma's eyes widened. "...You're actually going?"
"You suggested it."
"I was making a joke!"
"I know."
"So why are we going?"
"To give your brother and Grace goodbye. They're your family."
"..."
"And I wanted to see this married couple everyone keeps talking about on the way back mall, heard people saying random couple was doing a cartwheel together."
Grace wrapped Jemma in a bone-crushing hug.
"I'll miss you," she sniffled dramatically.
"You've known Jeremiah properly for the last 5 hours."
"Seven."
"That doesn't make it better."
"It does to me."
Jemma sighed. "You literally got legally married because you two thought it'd be funny and my brother followed along literally."
"It was funny."
Grace looked down at the folded paper in her purse. "...Best impulsive decision I've ever made."
Jeremiah scratched the back of his neck. "I'm still trying to process the fact that I'm somebody's husband."
Grace looped an arm around his.
"We're leaving tomorrow morning! Backpacking, beaches, no phones, no responsibilities."
Jeremiah looked at Adrian. "I'd apologize for dragging your evening into this."
"It wasn't a problem."
He patted Adrian's back "Das my man."
