Payment Policy

While using Wattpad Services (as defined in the Terms of Service), you may encounter paid features, which are subject to this policy. This policy (which includes our Terms of Service and other policies) ("Payment Policy") is a contract between you and Wattpad Corp. ("Wattpad", "we", or "us"). In addition to the rest of the platform, we offer you access to paid features in exchange for one-time or recurring fees. If you don’t agree to any of these terms, you can’t use Wattpad or the paid features.

Your Payment Options

If you want to access Wattpad’s paid features, you have to pay for them through the Apple Store or Google Play Store. You may use one of these payment options ("Payment Option" and collectively "Payment Options"):

• Coins. There are two types of coins on the Services: Purchased Coins and Bonus Coins, both as defined below. Coins are not virtual currency, cryptocurrency, or similar currencies. Purchases made using coins are non-refundable and can’t be sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged for cash. We may impose limits on the amount of coins that may be purchased, accumulated, redeemed or otherwise used. Total number of coins can be viewed at any time in your digital wallet on both mobile and desktop. Balances of Purchased Coins and Bonus Coins individually are only visible in certain countries, in your digital wallet in the mobile app. If you do not see Purchased Coins and Bonus Coins separately in your digital wallet, then all Coins will be treated as Purchased Coins.

• Purchased Coins. You may purchase coins at any time ("Purchased Coins") as such name may change from time to time. Purchased Coins never expire. You don’t own these coins: You get a limited, non-transferable, revocable, non-exclusive license for personal use of the coins. These coins have no “real world” value: their value at time of use may fluctuate and varies depending where you live and how many coins exist, among many other factors.

• Bonus Coins. You may receive these coins from us from time to time ("Bonus Coins") including when you activate a free trial, buy a bundle of Purchased Coins, interact with certain ads and/or offer walls, have an active subscription, or perform actions which we indicate result in you receiving these coins or for any other reason that we decide upon in our sole discretion. Bonus Coins may take up to 24 hours to appear in your wallet. We may add or remove ways of receiving Bonus Coins. Bonus Coins expire on a regular basis: coins received because you activated a free trial expire when the free trial expires while coins received for any other reason expire 30 days after you receive them at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Note that Bonus Coins received prior to November 8, 2023 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time may expire 90 days after they are received or may not expire at all.

• Subscriptions. You may purchase a subscription to Premium or Premium+ using the Apple Store or the Google Play Store. If you do, you’ll be charged immediately and then every one, six, or twelve months, depending on which subscription type and frequency you selected. Your subscription will automatically renew on the same basis. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

• Free Trials. You may be offered a free trial period at our sole discretion. If you activate a fee trial, you will receive complimentary access to subscription features for the duration of the free trial period. Your paid subscription will automatically begin at the end of the free trial period. To avoid being charged, you must cancel your subscription before the free trial period ends.

Payments, Changes, and Discontinuation

Prices and availability of paid features may change at any time. We don’t provide price protection or refunds, even if a paid feature is reduced in price or becomes free or is removed from the Services. With the exception of free trials, you must pay for all paid features that you access.

Purchases are subject to our Payment Policy as well as the terms and conditions of the Apple Store or Google Play Store, depending on which store you used to make your purchase. You may be charged tax, if required by law, which you must pay. Taxes may include goods and services tax, duties, customs fees, or other taxes.

Cancellations, and Refunds

All purchases are final and non-refundable, except in limited circumstances. However, you may be eligible for refunds from either the Google Play Store or the App Store; for instructions on requesting a refund, please see this Help Center article. You can cancel your subscription at any time and you won’t be charged again. We don’t give refunds for the period of time between when you cancel and when your subscription ends.

If all paid features are discontinued entirely, you may be eligible for a pro-rated refund on your subscription and/or a full refund on Purchased Coins in your digital wallet. Bonus Coins are not refundable at any time. We are not liable to you or any third parties for any changes or discontinuance.

We have the right to suspend or terminate your subscription without refunding you. When your subscription ends, your account will remain active, your coins will remain in your digital wallet, and you will still have access to any Wattpad Originals, or story parts of Wattpad Originals, that you purchased access to. You will lose access to Premium Picks and story credits and/or unlocks, as applicable.

We have the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate any of our policies, including this Payment Policy, without refunding you. If we terminate your account, you will lose any coins in your digital wallet. Your subscription will continue until you end it. You may be barred from opening a new account depending on the reason that we terminated your account.

Paid Features

At our sole discretion, paid features may be added or removed at any time. Current paid features included, but are not limited to, Wattpad Originals and Premium.

License and Restrictions

When you get coins or subscriptions from us, you receive a personal, limited, non-assignable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, revocable license. You can’t access paid features for non-personal, commercial, or public use. We reserve all rights, title, and interest in paid features on behalf of the creators. You can’t share your password or falsify or present inaccurate or misleading information as to your age in an effort to access the Services or content which has been age-restricted.

Legal Bits

We may change the Payment Policy from time to time. Changes are effective as soon as we post the new Payment Policy. By accessing paid features, you agree to receive communications related to your Coins. If any part of the Payment Policy is deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that part will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining term or condition.
