The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The four of us stood on the train station.
We heard a car and rushed down to the road. But instead of stopping the car just tooted at us and drove off.
"The professor knew we were coming." Susan said.
"Perhaps we've been incorrectly labeled." Edmund said, glancing at his label. Then we saw a horse and cart coming down the road. It stopped in front of us. A women with a hat and glasses on stared down at us.
"Mrs Macready?" I asked slowly.
"I'm afraid so." She replied. "Is this it then? Haven't you brought anything else?"
"No." I said. "It's just us."
"Hmm, small favours." Said the Macready, nodding her head twords the back of the cart. We all climbed on and headed off. Soon a huge house came into view. When we arrived we all hopped off the cart and followed Mrs Macready into the house.
"Professor Kirke is not used to having children in this house." She began. "And as such there are a few rules we need to follow. There will be no running." She began and we followed her up a small flight of stairs. "Or shouting. No in proper use of the Dumb waiter."
Susan then spotted a rather old looking statue of a head and went to touch it. But Mrs Macready stopped her. "No touching of the historical artifacts!" She shouted. I glanced at Edmund trying to stop myself from laughing. I saw that Edmund was doing the same.
"And above all, there shall be no disturbing of the professor." She finished.
----------------------------
I sat by the window, listening to the radio as it spoke about the air raids in London the night before. I sighed, hoping that Mum was okay. But then Susan decided to turn it off. I glanced at her whith a confused/annoyed look until she nodded her head twords Lucy, who was already in bed but awake and looking quite upset.
I stood up from the window seat and took a seat on the edge of her's and Susan's bed.
"The sheets feel scratchy." She said. I sighed. I knew she was missing home terribly, we all were.
"Wars don't last forever Lu." Susan told her. "We'll be home soon."
"Yeah, if home's still there." Edmund said entering the room with a bored expression on his face.
"Isn't it time you were in bed?" Susan said.
"Yes mum." Edmund replied.
"Ed!" I warned. He sighed before turning away. I turned back to Lucy. "You saw outside, this place is huge! We can do whatever we want here." I told her, Susan nodded with a smile. "Tomorrow's going to be great, really."
-------------------------
But it turned out that tomorrow wasn't great. It absolutely chucked it down all morning and the four of us were getting extremely bored, so bored in fact that I'd actually agreed to play one of Susan's word games.
"Gastrovaskila." She read from the book. I thought for a moment. "Come on Peter, Gastrovaskila."
I sighed. "Was it Latin?" I asked her.
she glanced down at the book before answering with a simple, "Yes."
Edmund then sat up from underneath a chair he'd been lying under all morning. "Is it Latin for worst game ever invented?" He asked as me and him both laughed. Susan huffed before slamming the book shut. Finally! I thought.
Just then Lucy walked over from where she'd been sat on the window seat. "Well, we could play hide and seek?" She suggested.
"But we're already having so much fun." I said sarcastically as I glanced over at Susan who gave me an annoyed look.
"Come on Peter! Please?" She asked, going all puppy dog eyes on me. "Pretty please?" I sighed, but couldn't say no.
"1....2...3..." I began. Lucy smiled before running off to hide.
"What!" Edmund exclaimed, but he, along with Susan also ran off to find somewhere to hide.
I took me ages to count to 100 and by the time I was finished I was sure they must of all found a hiding place by now. So I stepped out the room and began to search. I was extremely surprised when I heard Lucy shouting "It's alright! I'm back! I'm alright!"
I turned a corner to see Edmund peeking out from behind a curtain, Lucy standing in front of him.
"Shut up, he's coming!" Edmund whispered. But I'd already found them and Edmund sighed when he spotted me coming round the corner.
"You know, I'm not sure you two have quite got the idea of this game." I said as Ed came out from behind the curtain.
"Weren't you all wondering where I was?" Lucy asked, frowning slightly.
"That's the point." Edmund said. "That's why he was seeking you."
Susan then came up behind me asking if she'd won. I shook my head slightly. "I don't think Lucy wants to play anymore." I told her. Susan frowned.
"But, I've been gone for hours!" Lucy exclaimed.
------------------------------
Susan knocked on the back of the wardrobe, the back, there was no woods like Lucy had told us there was.
"Lucy," Susan began. "The only wood in here is the back of the wardrobe."
"One game at a time Lu, we don't all have your imagination." I told her before me, Susan and Edmund turned to leave.
"But I wasn't imagining!" Lucy shouted after us. I swung around to face her with an annoyed look on my face.
"That's enough Lucy." Susan said, taking the words right out my mouth.
"I wouldn't lie about this!" Lucy continued.
"Well, I believe you." Edmund said suddenly.
I stared at him with a frown on my face, Edmund just ignored me and turned to Lucy, who was also staring at him with a look of confusment on her face.
"You do?" She asked.
"Yeah, sure." Edmund said. "Didn't I tell you about the football field in the bathroom cabinet?"
I sighed. "Oh will you just stop it!" I told him. "You just have to make everything worse, don't you?"
"It's just a joke!" He replied.
"When are you gonna learn to grow up?" I said.
"Shut up!" Edmund shouted making me jump slightly. "You think you're dad, but you're not!" And with that he stormed out of the room.
"Well that was nicely handled." Susan told me before running after Edmund.
"But..." Lucy began, I turned back round to face her. "It really was there!"
"Susan's right Lucy, that's enough." I told her before leaving the room.
