My hands tremble by my sides. "Don't sleep with her..."
He steps toward me, his eyes dark. "Why not?"
"Whatever you were planning to do to her tonight, do it to me instead," I whisper.
Ayah has always been unremarkable in every way other than in the power she wields.
Since she was little she has been able to heal even the most fatal of wounds. Because of this, her father has locked her away, keeping her powers safe from the outside world.
That is, until a man appears below her balcony, giving her a glimpse into the freedom she could finally have.
However, the moment she starts to trust him, he takes her captive, revealing his identity to be a powerful Alpha who needs her to heal his younger sister.
But when the girl’s illness becomes impossible for Ayah to heal, she is dragged on a journey beside the Alpha to find an amplifier.
On the way she learns their connection goes deeper than their heated attraction, to a soul bond neither can deny.

~Ayah
The village streets don't feel as welcoming this morning.
Riley walks beside me, dressed in his uniform, his thick black boots making deep tracks in the heaped snow. It's soft and pillowy today after the heavy fall last night, making for a slow slog down the street.
"Again, thank you," Riley insists, studying the side of my face as we walk.
"You can stop saying that now." I nudge his arm with my elbow. "I know you're grateful."
Grasping that I've changed the dynamic of a family entirely is a difficult task. Saving their mother felt more of a service to myself than them, but seeing their joy and relief has overcome me with happiness.
"More than you'll ever understand. Seriously." He smiles tightly, his brows pressing together earnestly.
This isn't without sacrifice. As a guard, he's putting himself at grave risk of being caught and charged. We devised a plan over breakfast this morning on how to wash Blake and Riley's hands of their involvement with me.
I'm to be handed to the guards currently searching for me. Hopefully they'll believe Riley was doing his job searching for me, and happened to come upon me.
"You can make it up to me in time," I exclaim musingly.
His brows rise. "How?"
Grabbing him arm, I pull him to a stop for a moment. I didn't heal his mother for some kind of advantage, but the more people on my side the better.
"If, at any point, I decide I need to escape, I'll need help," I murmur lowly, glancing down the vacant street.
"Ah..." Riley nods knowingly, his breath pooling in great clouds of fog in front of him.
"I know it's a lot to ask, and I wouldn't do it unless I had a secure plan." We start walking again. "And I would just need helping getting out of the palace. After that I can look after myself."
With Zaon present, I doubt I'll have as much luck escaping as I did with Blake. I can only imagine the lockdown I'll be under once he realizes I escaped willingly.
"Blake and I will do everything we can to help you," he vows.
I breathe a sigh of relief. "Thank you."
I knew they would do this for me. They seem like a good, generous family.
We walk for a moment in silence, only the sound of snow crunching beneath our feet accompanying us. The guards must be gathered in the square, awaiting further instruction.
