Chapter 2
I'd admit, I wasn't a very smart guy. My best friend Mason was though, I cheated off his homework many times.
I was a Werewolf... An Omega. I was born into this life, my IED making it plenty hard to control.
The bell rang through the dorms, I pulled the covers off turning over to find my brother sound asleep, as usual. He was smart, he knew which girl he wanted, he got A's; our parents were so proud of him.
I still managed to get B's and C's even after cheating off Mason. I walked out of my room, clothes in hand. Mason was waiting for me outside. He woke up at 5 to get the shower over with so he didn't have to wait. I, on the other hand, loved my sleep. The only problem was the lines. Let me tell you, there were at least 20 stalls per bathroom, but there were way more students than 60 showers could handle.
There was a bathroom for each floor. My floor's bathroom wasn't usually full, I had the third floor. The first floor bathroom was usually the fullest, seen as the rooms down there were always filled up first.
"There he is," Mason smiled, waving to the brown-eyed boy. His name was Corey. Mason had been crushing on him since Freshman year, which was conveniently last year.
"Move," Milkovich demanded, shoving past us. The redhead followed in route. "Mickey!" He groaned. The boy turned around, "Stop following me, orange gay boy!"
I squinted my eyes at the insult; it was dumb. Even Ian thought so. Ian was brothers with Carl Gallagher, who was also my best friend. He was a Sophomore like Mason and I, but he usually arrived late to school... Usually. No, I meant always.
"What are you looking at?" He growled at one of the boys, spitting on his shoes. "Mickey!" The orange-haired boy shouted once again. "Whaaaat!" He groaned, turning around. "Do you want to get manhandled, Gallagher?"
He tilted his head. Mickey and Ian were born into a dangerous neighborhood. They knew how to fight, how to hide drugs, how to hide weapons. Nobody in the school dared to mess with them. One punch and they'd knock you straight out.
"Apologize," Ian demanded. Mickey walked up to him, his head held high. Ian slumped down, a frown on his face. "Say that again, Gallagher. I dare you."
The taller skinny boy just walked away, not exactly happy either. Then he turned around, punching Mickey square in the face. My eyes widened; I was shocked.
Even Ian seemed shocked. Mickey spat the blood out of his mouth, tackling the boy to the ground. I moved out of the way so I wouldn't somehow end up in their little fight.
Mickey punched Ian harshly in the face, hitting him once again before getting off the boy. "You don't fuck with the Milkoviches."
Ian groaned; blood was dripping from his nose. Mickey wiped the sweat from under his brow, stealing a guy's towel in front of me. He took one more glance at Ian before making his way towards the showers. I helped him up; Mason had brought him some toilet paper. "What were you thinking?"
He laughed, "I wasn't."
Ian was famous for his underrated performance in ROTC. He had been promoted to Captain last week. Everybody knew he wanted to be a Soldier when he got older.
After finally being able to take my shower, Mason walked with me to class. The building had been filled with students, as it usually was. Theo watched me from his locker. He was an Omega like me. It's what we call a wolf without a pack.
I would always catch him staring, like at his lockers or in class. We talked from here and there last year. I even invited him over to my dorm one night when Isaac went to his girlfriend's.
Theo was like Mickey; he was aggressive, very much scary, and raised horribly. But he still had respect; he had boundaries, and he wasn't a raging homophobe. He was also a friend.
He came out to me over the Summer actually, telling me how he was gay.
(Flashback)
I fixed my bed; Isaac had gone to his girlfriend's for the night, which meant I could have Theo over.
"Liam..." He frowned as I opened the door. "Can I trust you?" He asked, still having doubts about our friendship.
"Of course," I replied, moving out of the way to let him in my dorm room.
He sat on the edge of my bed, his head looking at the ground. "I'm gay," he let out in a low soft voice. His heart pounded; I knew he had never been this open with anybody before. For him to tell me something like this... It made me smile, because he really did trust me.
"Oh," I said, scooting over to him, laying my hand on his shoulder.
We had talked about it that night, Theo saying he'd known for a while. I ended up coming out to him that same night, returning his trust in telling him that I was bisexual. It wasn't something I had to think about long and hard; I definitely wasn't sure about it. But what I was sure of... was that I had a crush on Theo freakin' Raekan, and I didn't regret it. I gave him a wave, opening my locker in order to grab my book for World History.
His hand fell onto the locker beside mine as he leaned into it. "Dunbar," he smiled. I turned to face him. His little smirk was cute, and the sparkle in his green eyes was even cuter. "Raekan."
"You fell asleep on me," he complained, throwing his hands up as he went from beside me to behind me. "It was late," I frowned. "It was only Eight PM, Liam," he fired back, now pouting. "More like One AM." I shoved his arm, pushing him back.
He laughed, "Wow, Dunbar." I laughed at him, his head shaking in disappointment.
"Ew," Murphy gagged, walking past us with his jock friends in tow. Justin was team captain; Bellamy was co-captain, and the rest just starred in the team and wore the jackets. They played for Football; Theo, Carl, and I played Lacrosse. And our team was pretty good at it.
The warning bell rang, telling us to start making our way to class before we would be late. I shut my locker, grabbing my bag and making my way towards the shared class with Theo and I. We had World History first, which was in the Green Hall with Mrs. Stringer.
"Alright class, a lovely day today, isn't it?" Mrs. Stringer was 50 and about to retire. She wore a pink flowered dress; everyone took advantage of her age, seeing as she was the oldest teacher here. They'd walk out of class and come back in claiming they had asked her to go to the bathroom, and she'd simply believe them. Theo always said to not make myself a target, to steer clear of everyone's business. Definitely Mickey Milkoviches. I didn't have any classes with Mickey, thankfully. Mostly because I was a Sophomore and he was a Senior.
I heard he had calmed down since his Freshman year, where he would stuff kids in trash cans. I'm glad I wasn't here for that. The only reason Mickey was still even in high school as a 20 year old is because he had dropped out for a year and then failed another.
"Partners on the project?" Theo asked, his arm wrapped around my chair. A few of his bright white teeth showing as he smiled at me. I blushed a bit; I could see his huge muscles and even the print of his abs.
Justin flicked a piece of paper at me, a smile on his face as I turned around to find out who had thrown it. "Watch it," Theo growled. Justin instantly stopped, knowing his place and finding it.
After school, Theo and I headed to the lake where the deck was. It's where we usually go if we don't find ourselves in the Old mill or training for Lacrosse.
He gave me directions on the project of which I had been paying no attention to. I was so glad Theo had. It was hard to focus when all I could listen to was his smooth, calm heartbeat.
We were more than halfway done with the assignment when the sun began to give out and settle for an orange color. "Again, tomorrow?" He asked, using his arm to help himself up. His muscles were so big... If only I could just reach out and grab one. "Yeah, tomorrow," I smiled at him, stuffing my stuff into my bag and slinging it over my shoulder.
I loved spending my days with Theo Raekan.
